New Breitung Township clerk
QUINNESEC — Wendy Larson was sworn in Monday as Breitung Township’s new clerk, replacing Samantha Neuens, who retired after more than 20 years of service.
Larson, formerly the deputy clerk, will finish out Neuens’ remaining elected term until 2024.
The township board accepted Neuens’ resignation with regret, as Supervisor Denny Olson praised her as “one of the top clerks in the state of Michigan.”
Larson has studied the position over the past several months after Neuens announced her intention to resign, enabling the township to advertise the vacancy. Neuens is leaving to assist her husband, Bill Neuens, with their business ventures.
“You have been a very dedicated clerk,” Olson said. “The board has been real blessed.”
Neuens will remain available as a consultant, as needed, with the township board Monday approving a rate of $45 per hour.
