NEGAUNEE — A person of interest in a photograph circulated recently by Michigan State Police has contacted authorities in connection with an investigation into the passing of counterfeit money in Crystal Falls, said state police Lt. Mark Giannunzio.

“After further investigation, it appears this person did not knowingly intend to pass counterfeit money and has made good with the business that reported the crime,” Giannunzio said. Over the weekend, several tips were called in to the Iron Mountain post, he noted.

“State police are very thankful for the tips and assistance,” Giannunzio said.
