Malone, Trevillian named KHS Heisman High School nominees

KINGSFORD — The Heisman High School Scholarship program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athlete/scholars. This year, the Heisman High School program has recognized Benjamin Trevillian and Erika Malone of Kingsford High School for their dedication to go above and beyond as athletes and scholars.

They both excel in academics and in the athletic arena. Both students have earned multiple varsity letters throughout their high school careers. Trevillian has been a member of the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity football teams. He is also a member of the tennis and basketball teams. He has served in a leadership role on varying levels with these teams. Malone is a member of the high school soccer team, where she is captain. She participates in basketball, track and field, and on a travel soccer team.

Trevillian is the son of Kevin and Sara Trevillian of Breitung Township. He has performed very well academically, earning placement in the top 10% of his class. He has been a member of the National Honor Society, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), yearbook, Flivver Family Friends; serves as senior class officer; and has actively volunteered in the community. He plans to study nursing in college.

Malone is the daughter of Stephanie and Brad Coe of Breitung Township and James Malone of Kingsford. She is an excellent student who has earned placement in the top 10% of her class, as well. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Iron Mountain/Kingsford Community Schools soccer program, SADD, Flivver Family Friends and Key Club; and has served as her junior class vice president. Malone plans to study physical therapy in college.

The Heisman High School Scholarship continues the legacy of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship, a program created in 1994 by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas in partnership with The Heisman Trophy Trust. From its inception, the program has leveraged the reputation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy as a symbol of great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Over the past 25 years, the program has honored more than 600,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors and provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships to students and more than a million dollars to high school academic and athletic programs across the country.

The Heisman High School Scholarship program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athletes. By inviting students from schools across the country to share their stories of leadership and impact, the program aims to inspire all students to harness their potential, push their limits, and use their talents not only to advance their own futures, but also to improve the communities and world around them.
