KINGSFORD — The next Feeding America West Michigan mobile food pantry will be today at the Ever After Event Center, 420 N. Hooper St. in Kingsford. Drive-thru food distribution begins at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m.

The organizers are asking that customers approach the Event Center from Woodward Avenue and North Boulevard, and avoid entering from Carpenter or Breitung avenues.

Mobile food pantries are like farmers markets on wheels that provide free supplemental food to households. The last food distribution at the Ever After Event Center was on June 29, and served 376 households, 936 individuals in total.

More Feeding America West Michigan mobile food pantry dates are scheduled this year. The Kingsford dates are Wednesday, Aug. 23; Thursday, Sept. 21; and Wednesday, Nov. 29. The local sponsor for these events is Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain.

Food distributions also will take place in Norway at the Bethany Lutheran/Grace United Methodist Church facility, 130 Odill Drive, on Thursday, Aug. 17; Thursday. Oct. 5; and Thursday, Dec. 7. Distribution starts at 3 p.m. Crossroads Alliance (Bethany Lutheran/Grace UMD) is the local sponsor for the Norway mobile food pantries.

Volunteers are always needed to help with the food distributions.
