NORWAY — Incumbent Norway Mayor Candy Brew has been re-elected to another two-year term as the city’s mayor.

Mayor Pro Tem Scott Popp was also re-elected at the city council’s post-election reorganization meeting Wednesday.

“I want to thank you all for your support, I also want to thank the citizens that vote for me every year,” Brew said. “I try to do the best I can with the knowledge I get and it is really an honor to serve with the four fellows that I serve with. I think we make a great team — all of us here just want to do what is best for the city.”

Brew, along with council members Rico Meneghini and Jeff Muraro, retained their council seats in local elections Nov. 7 and were sworn in Wednesday for their new terms in office.

In other business, the council approved a short-term, six-month service agreement with internet provider Astrea.

The city currently is on a month-to-month basis with Astrea but with the city’s communication system currently on the market, it is important to have an agreement in place to ensure a smooth transition if it is sold, City Manager Dan Stoltman stated in a memo.

Brew reminded those attending that the Christmas Parade will be Friday. In addition to the parade, the event will have a tree lighting and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for the kids. The public works department has been putting up the decorations around the city.
