Antoine to open camp reservations Tuesday for 2024 season
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County will start accepting online reservations Tuesday for the 2024 camping season at Lake Antoine.
The FareHarbor system is available at https://www.dickinsoncountymi.gov/ under the Lake Antoine link.
Commissioner Barbara Kramer noted the scheduled opening of the reservation line at Tuesday’s county board meeting. She also reported more than 200 vehicles present for the Dec. 17 open house at the third-annual Lights at the Lake display at the campground.
Hosted by Lake Antoine Park Partners, Lights at the Lake drew 40 participants who decorated campsites for the holiday season. The event continues through Monday.
In other action, the county board:
— Heard Carol Bronzyk, clerk-register of deeds, note that training for election workers is scheduled for Jan. 26 at Bay College’s Iron Mountain campus. — Adopted a resolution recognizing Katy Driscoll for 20 years of service on the Dickinson County Library Board, emphasizing her “policy and managerial knowledge.”
— Entered into the record a State of Michigan special tribute to Megan Buck, recipient of the Michigan Library Association’s 2023 Public Librarian of the Year award. Buck has served as director of Dickinson County Library since 2016. The tribute — recognizing Buck’s “passion, enthusiasm and strong work ethic” in promoting “one of the premier libraries in the state” — is signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II and state lawmakers Rep. Greg Markkanen and Sen. Edward McBroom.
— Noted the courthouse will be closed Friday and Monday for the New Year’s holiday.
