PEMBINE, Wis. — For the past eight years, Patriots Wrestling Club has been a staple in the community, offering after school practices for children from kindergarten to fifth grade.

Each year, they culminate their efforts with a showcase, allowing families and friends to witness the progress and skills the young wrestlers have acquired while also raising funds for the club’s endeavors.

However, this year’s event holds a special significance as the club rallies behind one of their own.

A third-grade wrestler from the club has recently been diagnosed with liver cancer, adding a poignant layer of purpose to their annual showcase. Despite facing such a formidable opponent, this young athlete has shown remarkable resilience and a passion for learning, exemplifying the spirit of the sport.

Moreover, her family’s deep involvement, including her father’s role as a volunteer coach, underscores the tight-knit community fostered by Patriots Wrestling Club.

In an inspiring display of solidarity, the club has decided to dedicate this year’s showcase to support their young wrestler in her battle against cancer.

The event, scheduled for Thursday at Pembine High School gym, aims to unite friends, family, and the broader community under the banner of #TeamTess.

Beyond showcasing wrestling skills, the evening will serve as a platform to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, echoing the resilient spirit embodied by the young wrestler.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. There will be concessions, a bake sale, 50/50 drawing, chuck-a-duck contest and pin sponsors. Proceeds will go to the wrestling battling liver cancer.

The response from the community and neighboring wrestling clubs has been overwhelmingly supportive, highlighting the solidarity that permeates through the wrestling community.
