Five candidates on ballot for Miss Niagara

RAEGAN FRAPPIER

NIAGARA, Wis. — A new Miss Niagara will be chosen when voters go to the polls for local elections April 2.

Niagara High School students, along with City and Town of Niagara voters, will choose from among five students selected as finalists by their high school peers.

Started and sponsored by the Niagara Lions Club since 1968, the new Miss Niagara will have her coronation at the Niagara Lions Community Picnic on June 29, when she will be presented with a crown and sash from current Miss Niagara Justine Geldmeyer.

The candidates are:

— Raegan Frappier, 16, is a junior and the daughter of Helann Ruhf and Willie Charneski. Her siblings include Kenady Wright, 15, and Jaxson Gendron, 12.

MALLORY SANICKI

Frappier’s favorite subjects are Earth and space science and geometry. She plays volleyball, receiving the Coaches Award two consecutive years, and was the Most Valuable Player in sixth-grade track.

Frappier named her grandmother as her role model. “My grandma has been there for me even after we moved. She has said a lot of inspiring things and has done a lot of inspiring things. She does not let people get to her, and she is a very strong woman. I want to be just like her,” she said.

Frappier has volunteered to mentor younger kids in volleyball and has participated in neighborhood clean-up initiatives. She works at Holiday Kitchen. In her free time, Frappier enjoys playing volleyball and soccer, plus strategic games such as chess and ping pong. She has a soft spot for animals, often doing dog-sitting.

After graduation, Frappier hopes to become a professional volleyball player or pursue a career as a marine biologist.

— Mallory Sanicki, 16, is a junior and the daughter of Mark and Amanda Sanicki. She has one sibling, Bristol, 14.

ELESIA SWEIG

Sanicki’s favorite classes are English and health occupations. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and participates in basketball, volleyball, softball and forensics. In volleyball, she was named conference Player of the Year in 2023 and earned first and second-team all-conference honors. In basketball, she received second-team all-conference recognition. In softball, she was an all-conference outfielder as a freshman and sophomore.

Sanicki named her parents as her role models. “They are always pushing me to be the best version of myself,” Sanicki said. “They are always supporting me at every sporting event and academic event. I have been taught by them to be kind to everyone and treat others with respect. They inspire me to be a good person every day.”

Volunteer work includes church events such as fish fries and pasty making, and the Aurora Mud Runs. In summer, she helps take care of her dad’s properties.

In her spare time, Sanicki enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, swimming and snowmobiling.

After graduation, Sanicki wants to become a registered nurse and travel.

RACHAEL WALKER

— Elesia Sweig, 16, is a sophomore and the daughter of David and Heather Sweig. She has two siblings: Annika Sweig, 18, and Landon Sweig, 14.

Sweig’s favorite classes include English, student media and math. She has earned three varsity letters in sports. In addition, she has consistently been on the High Honor Roll, went to forensics state competitions and is secretary of her class.

She named her parents as her role models. “They have shared invaluable insights, instilled great work ethic and provided me with the inspiration to pursue my dreams,” she said.

Volunteer work includes at her local church serving fish fries, spaghetti and steak dinners; Youth Futures and the Lions Club; and selling raffle tickets at various events.

Sweig provides child care during the summer months.

ANNALEE WHITE

Outside of school and work, Sweig enjoys coaching volleyball at the Great 8 Games, reading, riding ATVs, swimming and working out.

After graduation, Sweig wants to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison toward becoming an attorney.

— Rachael Walker, 17, is a junior and the daughter of Nicole and Jim Schintgen and Daniel and Penny Walker Jr. She has six siblings: Alex, 29; Zach, 28; Austin, 24; Marissa, 27; Amelia, 19; and Baily, 18.

Walker’s favorite class is U.S. history. She participates in varsity volleyball, basketball and softball, earning varsity letters; forensics; student council; Badgers United; UP North Club volleyball; One Act; and theater. She also has been earning college credits from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College while still in high school.

Walker names her mother as her role model. “My mom is my inspiration because she has helped me through so much while going through problems of her own. She is a people person, putting everyone over herself to make them happy. She is a great cheerleader and encourages me to be the best me. She is a strong woman, and I admire that,” she said.

Walker has volunteered at various events, including the Lions Club Picnic, Big Red Barn, coaching volleyball for Great 8 Games, helping at the Aurora Mud Runs, church fish fry, community meat raffles, booster club events and Salvation Army kettle drives. She works at 151 Thai Bistro.

In her free time, Walker enjoys beach volleyball, basketball, softball and volleyball; painting; and reading.

After graduation, Walker plans to attend a four-year university, majoring in elementary education.

— Annalee White, 16, is a sophomore and the daughter of Ed and Lori White. She has a brother, Ed White, 19.

White’s favorite classes are English and biology. She participates in volleyball, earning a letter, plus softball, student council and forensics. She is class president, made High Honor Roll all semesters and is a state medalist in forensics.

White named her mother as her role model. “My mom has gone through adversity in her life in many aspects but still has always gotten through it and has come out better than ever.”

White attends First Covenant Church, is on the youth group and has contributed to service trips to Nashville and Washington D.C. She has volunteered at the Lions Club Picnic. She works at the YMCA in Iron Mountain with children of all ages.

In her spare time, White enjoys spending time with friends.

After graduation, White wants to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist.
