ESCANABA — A kayaker who went missing Sunday has been found dead in Little Bay de Noc.

The body of the 29-year-old male from lower Michigan was recovered at 1 p.m. Tuesday in about 14 feet of water.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office said the man was kayaking alone in Little Bay De Noc off Stonington and was reported missing Sunday evening after he did not return.

Crews extensively searched the water and land into the night. At about 2 a.m. the kayak was located floating upside down about a half-mile off shore.

The search continued all day Monday with no results and continued into Tuesday.
