Three injured in Quinnesec crash

IRON MOUNTAIN — Three people were injured and two were airlifted for treatment after a car-motorcycle crash Friday on U.S. 2 in Quinnesec, said Michigan State Police.

The crash occurred at about 4:05 p.m. near Lake Antoine Road when a car driven by a 50-year-old female attempted to turn left from the Krist Food Mart exit onto U.S. 2 and entered the path of a motorcycle driven by a 53-year-old male from Niagara, Wis., troopers said. The motorcycle crashed into the rear of the car, ejecting the operator and a 16-year-old female passenger from Norway.

The occupants of the motorcycle had life-threatening injuries and were airlifted from Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson to another facility, said Lt. Mark Giannunzio, assistant post commander at Negaunee. The driver of the car was also taken to MMC-D for treatment of injuries.

All three are recovering and the crash remains under investigation, Giannunzio said in a news release Tuesday.

Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and Iron Mountain Police Department also responded to the crash.
