Event Saturday at Florence Museum honors veterans

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Historical Society will honor local veterans from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The museum invites all area veterans to view the artifacts on display in the military/veterans room and the museum’s new exhibits, which depict various celebrations in Florence County through the years.

They can then go next door to the Webb-Judge House to enjoy a light lunch while sharing their memories and stories with each other.

On Saturday, July 13, quilters are invited to participate in the Historical Society’s Quilt Show/Strawberry Social at Maxsells on Central Avenue. The popular event always features as array of quilts and quilted items made by local folks. The Strawberry Social on the grounds at Maxsells which overlook Fisher Lake. More details will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Due to the construction project in downtown Florence, the Historical Walking Tours will be delayed until there is safe access to sites. In the interim, stop in the museum to learn more about Florence County history or to view a collection of digital photos.

The museum at 201 Florence Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday through Saturday throughout the summer with volunteers in attendance to answer questions regarding the history of the county.
