Suicide prevention event grant awarded
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Area Community Foundation recently awarded a $500 Community Impact Grant to Great Lakes Recovery Center’s “Dickinson-Iron Communities that Care” program.
This grant was partially funded through a matching grant from the Pasahow Family Fund.
Communities that Care will host it seventh annual “Hope 2 Help” Suicide Prevention event on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Farmers and Artisans Market in the parking lot at the corner of East A and Iron Mountain streets in downtown Iron Mountain.
The annual event begins at 1 p.m. with registration and raffle ticket sales. Community resources will be available.
At 2 p.m. there will be a speaker presentation and at 2:30 p.m. the one-mile walk begins. It will conclude at 5 p.m. after the raffles have been awarded.
The grant funds from DACF will be used to purchase displays of traveling suicide trees in memory of lost loved ones.
