Road work planned in Baraga and Keweenaw counties
L’ANSE — Contractors for the Michigan Department of Transportation will be performing maintenance on U.S. 41 in Baraga and Keweenaw counties, requiring lane closures beginning Monday.
Motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic using traffic controllers on U.S. 41 from the U.S. 141/M-28 intersection to Dog Patch Road and from north of Assinins to south of Kelsey Road, Houghton County, for shoulder gravel maintenance. The length of a traffic controller operation will be limited to 2 miles. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, Sept. 19.
Motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic under a temporary traffic signal on U.S. 41 southwest of Lake Medora Road in Grant Township, Keweenaw County, for guardrail work and placement of rip rap for erosion control. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 20.
The work is weather dependent and the schedule may be adjusted.
