Kingsford sets yard waste pickup
KINGSFORD — The Kingsford Public Works Department will begin collecting brush and garden waste Wednesday and loose leaves on Monday, Oct. 21, according to a memo from Public Works Superintendent Jeff DeMuri.
Collection will begin in Ford Addition, then move to Garden Village, the Breitung area and then the Heights area.
Leaf pickup will be on Oct. 21 in the Ford Addition, Oct. 22 in Garden Village, Oct. 23-25 in the Breitung area and Oct. 26 in the Heights and other outlying area.
Grass clippings and yard waste should be piled neatly at the edge of the alley or the location of normal weekly refuse pickup.
Residents are asked to have limbs and brush in orderly piles. Limbs should be between 6 and 8 feet in length, with butt ends facing the street.
There will be one pass through the city for these collections.
Loose leaves should be piled at the edge of the street above the curb and not on the roadway. Leaves will not be collected in the alleys.
Piles placed behind fences, power poles or other obstructions will not be collected.
The compost drop off site will be open during the week from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays until Nov. 2. The site behind the public works building at 1500 Carter Drive is for Kingsford resident only.
