IRON MOUNTAIN — Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson prepared and served 530 meals for its annual free Thanksgiving community dinner.
About 450 meals were delivered or picked up by community members and the rest were given to employees who had to work on Thanksgiving.
“It’s a way to thank them for working and to make sure they get a Thanksgiving meal,” said Joe Rizzo, director of public relations and business development.
“We also have quite a few volunteers who deliver meals,” he said.
The number is about average to what they usually make, he added.
“We love being able to do this for those who don’t have the means or ability to prepare a Thanksgiving meal,” Rizzo said.
Rizzo also expressed appreciation to the Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson food service team.
“There’s a lot of prep work leading up to today, in addition to their regular duties,” he said.
