KINGSFORD — Flivverfest attendees can expect to watch entertainment on a bigger stage this year.

The stage is comparable to one used at the centennial celebration in 2023, organizer Rick Holland said.

“In previous years we’ve had a smaller stage and put the stage inside the fence. This year, because it’s so big, we’re putting the stage outside the fence,” he said.

The event at Lodal Park starts at 4 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $25 per person or $50 for a family for both days. Veterans pay $20.

The opening act Friday is a new band called Darn Sad Crawdad of Little Chute, Wis. They perform classic and outlaw country music. They will be followed by local country band Bad Axe Rodeo, featuring Andy Gibbons of Nashville.

Saturday music opens with Jim Counter and Winston Lawson providing acoustic classic country, classic rock and original music. Popular local variety band Next Myle performs at 4:30 p.m., followed by Vic Ferrari of Green Bay at 7:30 p.m.

“They’re a 10-piece horn and ensemble band. We’ve had them before and they’re a very good band,” Holland said.

Flivverfest, in its 11th year, has raised more than $100,000 for Kingsford athletics. Holland and Kingsford varsity football coach Mark Novara organize the event with lots of help from volunteers.

“It’s a good fundraiser,” Holland said.

M.J. Electric donates all the electrical needs for the event. Tents are provided by Todd Dooley of Spread Eagle Fireworks. Dooley also puts on the fireworks show Saturday evening.

The booster club will sell hamburgers, hots dogs and other items. Four Seasons Distributing is in charge of the beer and other alcoholic drinks and Pepsi provides soda.

Bounce houses will be on site for the children.

A number of tents have been set up that can cover 2,000 people if it rains. Four or five class reunions will also take place under the tents.

“We take anybody from any other schools. Anybody in the area can have a reunion,” Holland noted.

They’re hoping for another successful event, with Holland adding, “the weather is supposed to be great.”
