Bay College millage on Tuesday’s ballot
Dickinson County voters Tuesday will decide a proposed millage renewal for Bay College.
The requested renewal is 0.9987 mills, or just under $1 per $1,000 of taxable value, for 20 years.
The Bay College millage is the only question on Tuesday’s ballot. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at locations throughout the county.
Revenue from the millage helps Bay College maintain operations in Dickinson County and keep tuition costs lower, according to college officials.
Without the millage, the college has indicated it will need to reassess costs to maintain operations, including tuition rates for Dickinson County students and services being provided through the Iron Mountain campus.
The college, which has campuses in Escanaba and Iron Mountain, also receives property tax support from Delta County at 3.2974 mills, or about $3.30 per $1,000 of taxable value.
