Dickinson Conservation District annual meeting set for Aug. 21
KINGSFORD — The 77th annual meeting and board elections for Dickinson Conservation District will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the main Dickinson County Library, 401 Iron Mountain St. in Iron Mountain.
The event will include updates from Dickinson Conservation District, Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition, Michigan Association of Conservation Districts, Forestry Assistance Program and Natural Resources Conservation Service. Keynote speaker will be Dr. James DeDecker of Michigan State University Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center, presenting what the overall facility is about and what it can provide for area residents.
Board elections will take place at this meeting, with Christopher Berndt and Jesse Cousineau unopposed for two open board seats, both four-year terms. Mark Rossato and Mark Hansch will not be running for another term.
“We want to thank Hansch and Rossato for their dedication to the Dickinson Conservation District during their terms,” said Dana Nelson, district manager.
Absentee ballots for the election are currently available at the Dickinson Conservation District Office at 420 N. Hooper St. in Kingsford.
