Iron County Audubon Club meets Monday
CASPIAN — The Iron County Audubon Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Iron County Historical Museum in Caspian.
The program, “Freshwater Mussels: More Than Meets the Eye,” will examine the 18 freshwater mussel species that are native to the Upper Peninsula and reside in many local lakes and waterways.
Jennifer Johnson, fisheries biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, will present information on freshwater mussel’s life history, ecological importance, their current status and past economic importance.
The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided after the presentation.
