Travelers advised of traffic projects ahead of Labor Day
With the summer travel season winding down, the Michigan Department of Transportation said it’s removing lane restrictions on 61% of its road and bridge projects statewide to ease traffic delays for holiday travelers.
In Dickinson County, however, M-95 still will have only one lane open with traffic alternating via a temporary signal near Randville.
Travelers are reminded that the Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic on Monday, Labor Day, from 6:30 a.m. to noon Eastern time during the annual bridge walk. Southbound I-75 and U.S. 2 traffic will be stopped at Exit 344 on the north side of the bridge; northbound I-75 traffic will be stopped at Exit 337 on the south end.
For more information, go to the Mackinac Bridge Authority website at www.MackinacBridge.org/Walk or call the MBA at 906-643-7600.
Beginning at 3 p.m. today, and continuing until 6 a.m. Tuesday, 100 out of 164 projects statewide will have lane restrictions removed. Drivers are advised that equipment and certain traffic configurations may remain in place, such as temporary shifts or shoulder closures.
For the most up-to-date information go to the Mi Drive website at www.Michigan.gov/Drive.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds motorists that U.S. 8 is closed between Laona and Crandon. Traffic is detoured via Highway 55, Highway 64 and Highway 32.
In Brown and Outagamie counties, two lanes are open each way on I-41 between Appleton and Green Bay. Watch for lane shifts and reduced speed limits, WisDot advised.
