Dickinson sheriff issues report

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Sheriff Aaron Rochon has issued his monthly report for September.

The road patrol served 56 civil process papers, investigated 175 complaints, handled 32 accidents, issued 119 citations and 282 verbal warnings, made 30 arrests — 11 of which were for outstanding warrants and eight of which were for felonies — and completed 129 property checks.

There were seven transports — three to prisons, one to Ypsilanti, a mental health transport to Willow Creek and one miscellaneous.

The K-9 officer was involved in six searches — one for the sheriff’s office and five for other local agencies. There was one deployment resulting in an arrest.

The correctional center had 76 bookings, with an average daily booking of 2.5 and an average daily population of 54.9. The average female population was 9.5.

The dispatch center handled 704 911 calls, 3,691 non-911 calls, 1,813 calls for law enforcement service, 522 calls for ambulance service and 60 calls for fire service.

Eleven individuals assigned to the sheriff’s work van logged 378 hours at the courthouse and jail, raking and landscaping at the sheriff’s office; cleaning, sweeping and emptying the sheriff’s garage; cleaning at the Almost Home Animal Shelter; local food pickups for the Salvation Army; and Ford Airport Days.
