Soo Line engine group to meet
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine No. 730 Authority will have its regular monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time Monday at 819 Delta Ave.
Volunteers recently helped hang Christmas lights on the locomotive display, which are to be lit later on this month. A site visit of the Soo Line engine for home-schooled students associated with Living Waters Academy is planned for Nov. 14.
The nonprofit continues to seek donations for perpetual care of the steam engine into the future. New donations can be made for the future Gladstone/Soo Line Historical Museum, as land is still being sought and building plans are being formalized.
Donations are always accepted by the Community Foundation for Delta County, 2420 First Ave. S. in Escanaba. Checks may be made out in care of Soo Line No. 730.
Anyone in the community interested in joining the group is encouraged to attend its regular meetings on the second Monday of each month. President John Pickard, 906-241-0888, can offer details.
