M-123 work starting in Chippewa County

PARADISE — The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a rebuilding project today on M-123 in Paradise in Chippewa County.

The $3.1 million project is expected to be completed by Oct. 23.

“The project includes partial crushing and shaping of the existing pavement, asphalt repaving with wide shoulders for an ORV connector trail and improved stormwater infrastructure,” a news release by MDOT states. “A Transportation Alternatives Grant will fund a paved shared-use path, concrete sidewalk, crosswalks and lighting.”

While road work is being completed, motorists should expect single-lane closures with temporary traffic signals and traffic regulators. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place during the project.

“This work will extend the lifespan of the roadway and increase safety for motorists,” the MDOT release states. “The shared-use path will also increase safety for nonmotorized users.

Starting at $3.50/week.
