Dickinson to end more road weight restrictions

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Road Commission will lift seasonal weight restrictions on county roads south of M-69 East, Carbis Road, Bush Lake Road, Kramer Road, Sunset Road and Johnson Lane (West), beginning at 6 a.m. Central time Monday.

The DCRC lifted restrictions on county roads south of U.S. 2 on Saturday morning.

All other spring weight limits north of the new line will remain in place until further notice. While weight restrictions are in effect, up to normal loads are permitted on roads designated as “All Seasons.” Hauling permits will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

For other questions regarding restriction information and updates, call the Dickinson County Road Commission at 906-774-1588.

Seasonal weight restrictions are put in place during the spring thaw to protect roads from damage.

Additionally, restrictions were lifted Thursday on all of M-149 in Schoolcraft County from U.S. 2 to the terminus of M-149, and on M-185, Mackinac Island.
