Juvenile seriously hurt in Florence County rollover

FLORENCE, Wis. — A juvenile male was seriously injured in a rollover crash early Sunday in the town of Homestead in Florence County.

The Florence County Dispatch Center received the 911 call about 3:14 a.m. of a one-vehicle rollover that had ejected the driver on County Highway N and Clauses Road, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found the juvenile male with extensive injuries. He was taken to to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain. No name or information on his condition was released.

A preliminary investigation indicated the juvenile, from Argonne, Wis., was driving southwest on County Highway N, coming from an underage drinking party in the Town of Aurora, when he lost control of the vehicle. It struck several trees and rolled, ejecting the driver, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Florence County EMS and Homestead Fire.
