Gary Berger

PEMBINE, Wis. — Gary Berger, 61 of Pembine passed away at home on Saturday, May 2, 2020 with his family close by after a long battle with bladder cancer.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1959, to the late Dolores and Donald Berger of Niagara. Gary graduated from Niagara High School in 1977.

He married Laura Berger (Gilchrist) on April 7, 1977. They lived in Niagara then moved to Pembine.

Gary worked for Wickman Welding in Iron Mountain and several local lumber sawmills in the Pembine area.

He loved fishing, hunting and woodworking. He loved especially making things for friends and family. He also enjoyed fixing things and doing projects.

He also learning about gold panning.

Gary would also lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

His favorite way to spend his time was to be with his four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and several other family members.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Berger (Gilchrist) of Pembine and two children, Jeramia Berger of Pembine and Shannon (Shawn) Fligg of Niagara. He had four grandchildren, Shianne and Alyssa Berger and Emily and Benjamin Fligg. Gary is also survived by his three sisters, Paula (Bruce) Nygard of Niagara, Wis., Donna (Frank) Galiger of Menominee, Mich. and Noreen (Richard) Brown of Gibsonburg, Ohio. He had many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life arrangements will be made and announced as they are finalized.

Burial will be in Pembine at the Pembine Cemetery.
