Fredrick Wickman

Fred was born in Iron Mountain on Feb. 5, 1955, to Anna (Johnson) and Alden Wickman of Felch. Fred graduated from North Dickinson High School and Michigan Tech University. He moved to California and was employed as a civil engineer.

He married Joni Poitras on June 8, 1996.

Nothing brought Fred more joy than his family. Whether it was attending sports events for the kids, camping trips to the desert or riding quads, he was always happy. He was a loving, hard working, funny and caring man. He never met a project he couldn’t tackle or a person he wouldn’t help.

Fred is survived by his wife, Joni; sons, Nick (Krista) Poitras, Chris (Amanda) Poitras; daughter, Katelyn (Astin) Cole; grandson, Dominic Poitras; brothers, Yut (Donna) and David; sisters, Sally Molli, Ruth Ann Wicklund, Betty (Chet) Dawson, Janice (Steve) Peck; brother-in-law, Ron (Debbie) Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Stubbe, Tammy (Steve) Cooke; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Keith and Keith’s wife, Julie; brothers-in-law, Bill Molli, Don Wicklund and Craig Stubbe.

Whatever role he played in your life, he would want you to remember the laughs you shared and the fun times you had together. Fred we miss you. We love you. We’ll think of you every time the Packers score a touchdown and feel lucky for the times we spent with you.
