Kermit Bott

IRON MOUNTAIN — Kermit Bott passed away on Aug. 10, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was deeply loved by his wife of 54 years, Terry; his children, Leslie (Robert) and Gregg (Shelli); and his grandchildren, Hudson, Sienna, and Charles.

He lived a very full and rewarding life which will be celebrated and cherished by his close family and friends.

He spent much of his life in Miami; although some of his fondest memories were of his childhood in the Bahamas. Kermit always remained a Bahamian at heart. He was a terrific athlete, and a proud graduate of Miami High, the University of Florida, and Houston Optometric School.

He was a successful optometrist for more than 35 years, spending most of his career in Miami before relocating to Iron Mountain, where he worked for the VA Hospital. He was adored and respected by his patients and colleagues.

After retiring he enjoyed traveling, watching sports, and relaxing by the lake up in Gills Rock, Wis. To the end, he was an avid Miami Hurricanes fan, and loved music, dancing, and his blue Jeep. But most of all, he enjoyed time with his family and being a tireless and wildly entertaining grandpa (earning the moniker “Kermit the Entertainer”).

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

Kermit was pre-deceased by his parents, Rubin and Dorothy,; his sister, Cynthia (Bill); and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Beth.

In addition to his loving wife Terry, Kermit is survived by his brother, Allen (Paloma); children and grandchildren.

The family suggests any donations made in his honor be directed to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
