Claude Siders

FOSTER CITY — Claude Siders, 75, of Foster City, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Claude was born Sept. 28, 1948, in Versailles, Ohio, son of the late Claude Jr. and Ruth (Ditzenburger) Siders. He earned a master’s degree in education and was a teacher and administrator for the public school system, retiring from North Dickinson Schools.

In his retirement years he enjoyed the simple pleasures: walking, hiking, biking, golfing, gardening, kayaking, cooking, beekeeping, and planting and tending trees. He kept an old Allis Chalmers tractor on the go, and the grandkids loved to get rides. He especially enjoyed winter trips to Florida and the friendships he made there.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Siders and Roy Lee Homan.

Claude is survived by his wife, Gretchen; a son, Caleb (Audrey) Siders; a daughter, Autumn (Dave) Kalin; three stepchildren, Madeline (Dylan) Dennocenzo, Paul (Lisa) Cousineau, and Thomas Cousineau; grandchildren, Jessica Kalin and Bailey (Gage) Kalin, Evelyn and Maxwell Siders, Taylor and Ethan Dennocenzo, Sven, Lina and SJ Cousineau; two sisters, Phyllis (Sam) Cotrell and Gladys Peeples; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Siders; mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Janet Nelson; two sisters-in-law, Janet Homan and Kris (Gus) Murray; two brothers-in-law, Ken (Malou) Nelson and Robert (Connie) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dickinson Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Daniel McMahon for their extraordinary care during this time.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Fellowship Hall at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.

A brief memorial service will take place at 4:30 p.m.
