FAITHORN — Duane Roy Johnson, 76 of Faithorn, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at his home in Faithorn.
He was born on July 8, 1947, in Wakefield, the son of the late Roy and Marie (Delich) Johnson.
Duane graduated from Bessemer High School in 1965 and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
After the service, Duane worked for a candy factory in Milwaukee, then moved home to work for White Pine Mine and then Hibbing Taconite. After he welded for Kiser-Johnson Hydro, Lodal and Marinette Marine. He was a Truck Driver for many years until his retirement in 2015.
He married Shirley Hanna on Nov. 6, 1982 in St. Marys Church in Faithorn.
Duane was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to his camp, watching his great-nephew’s hockey games, and spending time with his dog, Josie.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Carey (Charles) Pierce of Texas, Kristie Johnson of Las Vegas, Jamie (Phil) Koutnick of Milwaukee and Jocelyn Johnson of Green Bay; sister, Doreen (Dale Walker) Anderson of Bessemer; brother-in-law, Richard (Suzanne) Hanna of Faithorn; sister-in-law, Carla (John) Lawniczak of Ohio; nieces, Dara (Joe Leske) Anderson, Melissa (Jeremy Johnson) Anderson, Amber (Sean) Hanna, Angie (Sandeep) Narang; nephews, Andre (Kristin) Hanna and Casey (Scott Aiken) Kelly; great-nephews, Cody Dauwalter, Caden Sterling; and his three hockey buddies, Oliver, Cooper and Ethan Hanna.
Duane was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Anderson; niece, April Sterling; and nephew, Kyle Kelly.
According to Duane’s wishes there will be no funeral services.
