Ricky Roy ‘Rick’ Lessor

IRON MOUNTAIN — Ricky Roy “Rick” Lessor, 69, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at St Vincent hospital in Green Bay with his kids and family by his side.

Rick was born Dec. 8, 1955, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Floyd and Colleen (Hayes) Lessor. He attended school in Kingsford and at an early age started working construction for Bacco. He then went on to work for Fayas and Sons for many years.

Rick took complete pride in his work and any job that was asked of him. He could solve a math problem, if you asked him, quicker than a calculator. He was one of the best operators and loved being asked to help with any grading job or any kind of dirt work.

He transitioned to Gauthier and Sons where he worked for many years as well. After he semi-retired he worked for Chris Weber Excavating and most recently for the City of Iron Mountain where he again took great pride in all the clean up and work to keep the cemetery looking its best.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting, grouse hunting, trout fishing, mowing grass, cutting firewood, picking berries and anything that involved him being outside. He taught his children and grandchildren so much about the outdoors.

He enjoyed being at camp and was always up for a good card game of smear. It brought him great joy to make pickled eggs and beef jerkey and share with so many during deer hunting season. He was “one of a kind” as many would say and will be incredibly missed by so many.

He is survived by his significant other of 30 years, Tammy Labonte of Iron Mountain; son, Nick (April) Harwath of Felch; daughter, Lindsey (Brad) Cowling of Kingsford; stepson, Tye Labonte of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Harwath and Adyson and Michael Weber; nephews, Tom (Kelly) Quick and Travis (Angelina) Quick, aunts, Joan Tinti, Dina Hayes, Ginger Hayes, and Beverly Conery. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Steve (Michelle) Labonte and Ronnie Labonte; sisters-in-law, Donna (Joe) Dombrowski, Lori (John) Dault, and Becky Dombrowski as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved grand-pup Bella Boo.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Colleen Lessor; sister, Dixie Quick; brother-in-law, Thomas Quick; and daughter, Kristen Lessor.

There will be a graveside service March 7, at 1 p.m. at the Quinnesec Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at Bob and Jerry’s Tavern.
