Janet Stewart

She was born in Iron River on Nov. 8, 1948, the daughter of the late Earl and Audrey (Bottise) Lackerman.

Janet graduated from Iron River High School and continued on to get her bachelor degree from Michigan Tech University. Janet worked as an accountant with the Breitung Township Schools.

She married William “Bill” Stewart on Aug. 18, 1973, in Iron River. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2022.

Janet enjoyed crocheting, watching birds, reading, crossword puzzles, flowers and watching her grandson and friends play baseball.

She is survived by her son, Wes (Mary) Stewart of Iron Mountain; daughter, Tammy (Scott) DeBakker of Vulcan; grandchildren, Landon DeBakker; Kayla (Zak) Walker, Kyanna DeBakker, Deaja Snell, Hunter Kellow and Savanah Stewart; sister, Gayle (Ron) Nicholson of Norway; brother-in-law, Robert (Shevawn) Stewart of Franklin, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Sue (Walt) Eisele of Franklin; nieces, Theresa (Jeff) Honn, Sandra (Kevin) Phelps, Morgan Eisele and nephew, Robert Eisele; and many grand nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held for Janet at a later date.
