Sarah Marshall

She was born Nov. 1, 1958, in Rockford, Ill., daughter of the late William and Colleen (Powell) Wernecke. Sarah graduated from Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Ill., in 1976 and went on to earn her master’s degree in school psychology from Eastern Illinois University.

Sarah dedicated nearly 40 years as a school psychologist with the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District and most recently served in the Niagara School District. Sarah married Francis Marshall on June 8, 1985, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. She was also a member of Pine Grove Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing. Sarah found joy in camping, fishing, biking, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Francis; her daughter, Richelle (Elena) Esquivel of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Steve (Nancy) Wernecke of Darien, Ill., and Randall (Marya) Wernecke of Naperville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was also preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Megan and Molly Marshall.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 19, at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
