QUINNESEC — Louis J. Orler, 91, of Quinnesec, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Norway, son of the late Ernest and Yolanda (Bianchi) Orler. Louis grew up in Vulcan and Iron Mountain and was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1953.
On May 7, 1960, in Felch, he was united in marriage to Judy Gedvick. Following marriage, they resided in Iron Mountain and Kingsford before moving to Quinnesec. Louis was a long-time employee of Grede Foundry in Kingsford. Throughout his tenure of 42 years with the company, he advanced from his initial role as a grinder to his final role of supervisor before retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Going to camp on weekends was the highlight of his week. He liked to hunt, fish and attend Iron Mountain sporting events. Louis was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, rarely missing a game. He was a member of the Norway Moose for many years.
Louis was a caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Judy Orler; two daughters, Sherri Orler and Rhonda (Bart) Hobbs, both of Richmond, Texas; one brother, Francis Orler of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Alexis (Bryce) and Cameron; and one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Lorenzoni; and a brother, Peter Orler.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Danielson will officiate. Burial will take place in the Norway Township Cemetery of Norway.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s in Louis’ memory.
