Charles Cain Jr.
QUINCY, Ill. — Charles Edward Cain Jr., lovingly known as “Charlie,” “Dad,” or “Eddie,” was born on Aug. 25, 1947, in Quincy, Ill., the son of Charles E. Cain and Bonnie J. Spilker, passed away on Nov. 17, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family.
Charles lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, and devotion to family and faith. He was known for outstanding kindness, love for his family and dedication to his faith. Those who knew him will remember him as a man who loved life.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on B-52 bombers, serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970. His service reflected his sense of duty, courage, and commitment, values that he carried with him throughout his life.
Charles was also a lifelong member of multiple service organizations throughout his life including a 3rd degree Master Mason in the Iron Mountain Masonic Lodge, Legionnaire at the American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain and Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3674.
Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Cain; his son, James “Corey” (Rachel) Cain; his grandchildren, Maddy, Mason, Miles, James, Samuel and Henry Cain; his sisters, Cindy Cale and Beverly Brown; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Cain; his brother, Gary W. Spilker; and his son, Steven Edward Cain.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring.

Charles Edward Cain leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and strength that will be cherished forever.
