NORWAY — Raymond Floris Groeneveld, 95, of Norway, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, surrounded by family at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Ray was born on Nov. 9, 1930, in Norway, the beloved son of the late Floris and Anna (DeGroot) Groeneveld. He was the youngest of 16 brothers and sisters.
Ray married Alice Guzzonato on Sept. 6, 1958, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. They celebrated 67 years together, raising one beloved son, John.
Ray served his country in the U.S. Army, 44th anti-aircraft artillery gun battalion during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Pollard’s Dairy in Norway for over 40 years and retired in 1992, becoming the primary caretaker of The Spruce Lake Lodge — a special family cabin.

Ray is survived by his wife, Alice; son John (Cathy) Groeneveld; granddaughters Elleda (Paul) Linsmeyer and Adria (Kory) Brietzke; cherished great-grandchildren Aiden, Gabriella, Joshua and Kooper; and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 15 brothers and sisters.
Family will greet friends on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Abraham Mupparathara officiating.
