Boys and girls bowling teams from Iron Mountain reached the finals of the 2026 Upper Peninsula tournament in Ishpeming, with the boys winning the U.P. title and the girls placing second.

Nine boys teams and seven girls teams from across the region participated, along with six “X” teams.

Each team — girls, boys, and X teams — bowled eight Baker games and two individual games. The top four teams were decided by total pins and moved on to match play.

The Iron Mountain boys defeated Ishpeming in the first round of match play and went on to defeat Westwood for the championship. The girls defeated Ishpeming in their opener, but bowed to Westwood in the title match.

The Iron Mountain X team also reached match play, but was eliminated by Marquette, who then lost the title match to Westwood. The X teams are made up of bowlers not on their schools’ main boys and girls squads.

Also represented at the tournament were Gladstone, Escanaba, Calumet, L’Anse and Menominee.

Iron Mountain will head to Gaylord this weekend to compete in a regional tournament.

The Iron Mountain boys roster includes seniors Gavin DuBose and Chase Hallman; junior Randy Janovsky; sophomores Jaricho Hudson, Aiden Niemi and Lucas Steadman; and freshman Logan Faucett.

The girls roster includes seniors Joleigh Osieczonek, Alizabeth Richtig and Chloe Roell; juniors Laci Miles and Noahlee Terlaje; sophomores Marissa Campbell, Amelia Gustafson, Sabrina Markey, Lilah Schafer and Signe Trindal; and freshman Sabrina Pease.

Six of the boys and five of the girls on the Iron Mountain squad are Kingsford students.

The Mountaineers are coached by Pete Tomassoni, assisted by Kevin Hanson, Cathy Tomassoni and Hanna Bastian.

Starting at $3.50/week.
