Something needs to change

This is not a letter to point fingers or to figure out who’s right and who’s wrong, but can we take an emotional step backwards and ask the question: What are we doing to ourselves? Riots in Kenosha, riots in Oregon … etc., etc., etc. Attack on the Capitol. Have we brought this on ourselves? Is this the end result of the survival of the fittest or might makes right? What ever happened to the Golden Rule — “Do unto others what you would have them do to you.” Does anyone know what that is? Or did we throw that out when we threw out the Bible and then tried to recapture it with Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty? If there is a higher power that I call God, then why don’t we repent and seek His perspective instead of our own self interest? Our problems are not caused by the other guy, our problems are OUR problems. All of us share some responsibility for our actions, inactions and our unwillingness to change, as demonstrated for the last 10 years or so — culturally, generationally, politically and religiously — because we want to retain our bias. Why pray “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done” if we don’t mean it? Remember, it’s not the other guy’s fault, it’s mine. We better lower the noise level, listen and challenge one another in a gracious, loving manner to respect one another. Easily said but hard to do — but if we don’t, we’ll kill one another. Let’s try harder to listen respectfully.
