Without faith in loving God there is no hope

There was a Letter to the Editor a short time back that spoke of the lack of provision for mental health in America. The writer’s opinion was that the nation needs to offer more mental health care. I do not disagree with that notion, nor do I disagree with the idea that lack of hope can contribute to feelings of despair and uselessness. In my opinion, it is here in the realm of hopelessness that depression takes root and begins to damage one’s psyche and could possibly cause them to be uncaring about the consequences of their actions. However, hope is not achievable in a hopeless world.

In a world where there is no loving God, the people perish. Without faith there is no hope. If you do not believe that God created the heavens and the earth, the core of all your beliefs is a little off center, and all the thoughts that emanate from that incorrect core belief will also be a little off center. If there is no eternal life and no all-powerful God, then there are no consequences for your actions beyond what man can do to you. Many people may feel that man has never done anything for them, so why should they care about what man can do to them? Since the writer of the mental health letter asked if there are other opinions, I offer this: Secularism does not have the answers. The further we push God out of our society, the more sociopathic behavior will emerge, and chaos will ensue.

I’m sorry, a “big bang” where nothing plus nothing equals everything is not a very logical explanation for the universe, and it offers no hope.
