IM campus best if centralized
EDITOR:
The Centralized Campus is the new and most effective model in education today nationally. As an educator for more than 30 years with experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor, track/swim coach, college instructor and most recently coordinator of the Dickinson-Iron Great Start Collaborative and the Imagination Factory Children’s Museum, I wholeheartedly believe in the Centralized Campus model for our community.
The following rationale supports implementation of a future Iron Mountain Public School Centralized Campus for all students —
— Cross-age mentoring will be enhanced resulting in more academic support, role modeling for younger students, and leadership development;
— More opportunities are provided for teachers to engage in curriculum development with blended instruction;
— Potential savings for school districts includes: More effective facility and room usage, bus transportation savings due to efficient scheduling; and reduced operating costs resulting from collaborative teamwork and communication;
— Formation of more school-community early literacy partnerships to promote children reading daily;
— Increased opportunities for after school activities.
Time for you to PRIORITIZE education. It is all about the children! Please join me by voting yes to building a new Iron Mountain Elementary School and Early Childhood Center at the high school campus.
