Appreciates county stepping up for lift station at meal center

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet — Thank you, Dickinson County Board members, for allocating monies for the lift station at the Crystal Lake Community Center for the Meals on Wheels program.

Thank you also to the drivers who deliver these meals rain or shine, ice or snow, on unplowed roads, sidewalks and driveways in the winter. Who knows when one might need this service for the homebound elderly and disabled?

This is one of the many services the Dickinson Iron Community Services Agency offers.

Again, thank you, board members for keeping this program up and running.

Enjoyed Transformation Band performance

Bouquet — From John and Barb Messer, Iron Mountain:

The performance Saturday night at the Braumart Theater by the Transformation Band from First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford was outstanding! Another example of the tremendous talent we have in our community. Thank you.

Thanks for supporting Stamp Out Hunger drive

Bouquet — From Kalyani Grasso, St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette, Wis.:

You did it again, Marinette and Menominee area residents! Marinette and Menominee area letter carriers, along with postal employees and local volunteers, teamed up to Stamp Out Hunger in the community on Saturday, May 11.

This food drive netted an incredible 15,927 pounds of donations. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who donated food or volunteered to make this food drive a success. Your bag of food donations will have a huge impact–benefiting food pantries at St. Vincent de Paul Marinette, Newcap, The Salvation Army, and St. Vincent de Paul Resurrection Conference of Menominee.

Your generosity reminds us of the fact that our community cares and is ready to give when a need presents itself.

Thank you to Jack’s Fresh Market for the donation of donuts and juice, the Knights of Columbus, and the Menominee High School Baseball Team.

Please consider contacting these agencies — St. Vincent de Paul in Marinette and Menominee, Newcap, or The Salvation Army — to be involved in projects throughout the year, such as the school supply drive, holiday gift programs for children, or holiday meals provided through the food pantries.

Starting at $3.50/week.
