Some of the highlights of the Memorial Day weekend honoring our veterans. John Kohler’s radio broadcast — thanks, John! The parade at Evergreen Heights in Kingsford. The short ceremonies by the Kingsford American Legion Post 363 at the Quinnesec and Memorial Gardens cemeteries. The Garden Club’s plantings around the area. Some churches held indoor services. Flags displayed at the VA hospital and Quinnesec and Iron Mountain cemeteries. Some homeowners displayed flags, also. Picnics, boating, fishing at Cowboy Lake and Lake Antoine. City Park was busy, also, with a few skateboarders. A few fireworks were heard. The thunderstorm later in the day. Did you see the rainbow? Communities are made great by the people who live in them. Bless those giving their time and energy this unusual Memorial Day and God Bless America!
