Praise for dance academy’s ‘Little Mermaid’ production

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: Lots and lots of beautiful bouquets to everyone involved with the Northern Michigan Dance Academy’s “The Little Mermaid” ballet at the Braumart Theatre last weekend, including Katie Roell, Gracie Ramlow and Leah Trepanier; all of the parents; and, of course, the dancers.

A special bouquet and shout out to Beth Provencher, who founded the company in the ’90s and brought the skills, discipline, knowledge and grace of classical ballet to hundreds of young people in our area. All of these girls — and let’s not forget Issac Larson and the other boys who participated over the years — will use these skills and poise throughout their lives.

(A disclosure — I am one of Beth’s yoga students and she is an outstanding teacher.)
