Closing in on goal of 2 million can tabs

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: Greetings, I’m still here as many of you are.

I was asked several times, what do we get out of it for collecting these aluminum can tabs?

The first thing that came to my mind was, do they think we are getting some kind of kickback? I replied yes, we are getting something, it comes from our heart. A good feeling that we are helping others who may need the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, who may be a little less fortunate.

Tidbit: In 1984, the Ronald McDonald House opened its doors with 24 rooms. Today they have 84 rooms.

Kudos to:

— Jeffery Nothelfer of Skanee, 96,000 tabs.

— Bill and Carol Olsen, daughter-in-law, Terri of Iron River, 58,000 tabs.

— WIKB 99.1 and Bob Black, who has picked up tabs from various places and delivered them to me.

— Also, Bob & Jerry’s, Nichols Flooring and Tile and The Mineshaft.

Your ongoing support is what helps RMH keep families together. Without you, the house and families would not be able to stay close to their sick or injured child while they receive critical medical treatment.

We are now at 1,700,000 toward our 2 million goal.

Awesome job everyone — keep on tabbing.

Collection locations are:

— 101 Bar and Grill, JR’s, The Mineshaft, Filling Station, and Tavern on Central, all in Florence, Wis.;

— Nichols Flooring and tile in Iron River;

— Sach’s in Tipler, Wis.;

— Saloon No. 2 (Marco, new owner) in Spread Eagle, Wis.;

— Bob & Jerry’s in Kingsford;

— Tom and Jo’s and Stephenson Co-op in Aurora, Wis.
