Going above and beyond
Bouquets and Barbs
Bouquet
From Dakota and Becky and Mack and Murphy Johnson, Delavan, Wis.:
Over the Fourth of July weekend, while we were visiting family, our two young golden retrievers escaped the yard at our grandma’s house and took off on their own private vacation. In the 36 hours they were missing we were carried through by the support, good luck, prayers and help by total strangers.
Our Facebook post on Lost/Missing Pets of Dickinson County was shared hundreds of times. Almost everyone, at almost every business in Norway had heard they were missing and looking. An employee at Krist helped us make fliers. An employee from Niagara Worldwide met us at the gate on Kimberly Road and escorted us around their property.
The staff at Billerud went above and beyond, notifying their employees to keep an eye out for them. They gave us access to their private property and even drove our grandma around in a work truck through the woods for two hours! Neighbors were walking Kimberly Road, calling their names.
We received dozens of messages and calls about possible sightings, barking dogs and people letting us know where they had searched. We were and continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude. Mack and Murphy were found under a tree, slightly injured and quite terrified but alive.
What a wonderful community.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
