Blood donor for 65 years encourages others to give

In The Daily News on Thursday was a very good article to donate blood.
Giving a blood donation is easy to do and usually only takes about an hour of time.
My first donation was with my dad in 1960 at the armory in Kingsford. We went together a few times until I went in the Army. While in the Army I continued to donate and continued after coming back home. There were times I missed because I was working out of the area but always donated at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
Your blood is back to normal a couple days after you give.
On April 1, I donated at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford again after my doctor said it was OK to do so. That donation was no. 240, which comes out to 30 gallons.
Please give blood as you can, it could be a life you save.
God gave me the ability to do this and I’ve been able to help for 65 years.
[Editor’s note: First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford, will host blood drives this month from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
