Local parties do right thing on Kirk shooting

We absolutely applaud the actions of the Marquette County Democratic and Republican parties in the wake of the heinous killing last week of Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. A suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was charged Tuesday with aggravated murder. The easy play for political parties and politicians here and elsewhere would be to attempt to make political hay from this act of violence. Indeed, we are troubled to report, a great many have. Adopt-A-Highway fall cleanup to begin Saturday, last of 2025

Adopt-A-Highway volunteers will take to the roadsides again starting Saturday through Sept. 28 for the third and final scheduled litter collection of 2025. Adopt-A-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation program designed to help keep the state’s highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides of a section of state highway roadside to tend for at least a two-year period. A minimum 2-mile stretch of roadway is recommended. App launched to help youth quit tobacco, vapes

Youth in Michigan now have a new way to access free help to quit using tobacco and nicotine products, including e-cigarettes and vapes.
