Championship week at Norway Speedway
NORWAY — It’s Championship week at Norway Speedway. The Dickinson County Fair 100 brought to you by the Island Resort and Casino will be this Sunday at 4 P.M. This is our grand finale and with the help of the Dickinson County Fair Board this year is going to be extra grand; as grandstand admission is free!
Admission into the fairgrounds, which is $5, will also get you into the grandstand. I am predicting the biggest crowd we have had in many years. Hats off to the fair board for trying to save our great fans a few bucks.
The Championship races are always drama-filled and exciting. This year will be no different.
In the Coca Cola Late Model Division, Dillion Kralovetz of Bonduel is closing in on his third straight track championship and has a 30-point lead over Jordan Ives of Bark River. Ives has come on strong the second half of the season and I am sure he will be up for the challenge with a $1,000 cash prize on the line.
We are expecting a huge field of late models from Upper Michigan and Northeastern Wisconsin. All of the big names will be there including Dalton Zehr, Reagan May, Robby Iverson, Mike Reichenberger, Dan Lindsley and many more.
In the Auto Value Super Stock Division, Tim Schultz Jr. of Norway has a 61-point lead over Andy Gerwig of Norway. Schultz has been running consistently all year long and has avoided all of the major crashes. Gerwig, who has only been in the division a few years, has had a breakout season winning two feature events.
A 61-point lead seems impossible but it has happened before and I am speaking from experience.
In the 141 Auto Sportsman Division, Preston Weddel of Crivitz has a 13-point lead over Michelle Janczewski of Armstrong Creek. Weddel is a veteran in the division and started out the season winning the first four out of five feature events, in a division where every car is basically running at the same speed.
Michelle Janczewski has also won three feature events this year and is also an experienced veteran of the division. She will be racing as hard as she can to become Norway Speedway’s first female track champion.
In the Jon Lasater State Farm Division, Cody Skog of Norway has run strong all year and has a 116-point lead over Adam Faull. Even though Faull has taken his racing program to another level this year, Skog came out in his previous championship form. Faull of Norway has a 75-point lead over third-place Zach Gazda.
In the Wilson Auto Collision Sport Trucks, Brent Barglind of Kingsford has a 60-point lead over Tanner Fickel. There is a 1-point difference between Tanner Fickel and Justin Fickel. This event also will crown the championship of the Wisconsin Sport Truck Traveling Series. This series travels to several tracks throughout the state of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan all through the summer.
Time trials for the Dickinson County Fair 100 Race start at 2:30 p.m. and racing begins at 4 p.m. There is a rain date of Monday.
See you at the track. With the late afternoon start, we will have plenty of time to go out and enjoy the fair after the races.
