ETC wary of Forest Park’s ‘mental edge’

Forest Park’s seven-year Class D district title reign may be severely tested Wednesday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

The Lady Trojans (11-9) and Ewen-Trout Creek (16-4) will meet at 6:30 p.m. in a District 127 girls basketball semifinal. Panthers coach Jacky Besonen says Forest Park has the “intimidation factor.”

“They’ve got that mental edge and that tradition,” Besonen told The Daily Globe. “I’m sure that’s what they’re thinking. They’re confident. Why wouldn’t you be?”

ETC features two girls scoring in double figures and two more with nine-point averages. The Panthers average just 7.2 turnovers per game.

Forest Park-ETC winner hosts Watersmeet or Wakefield for the district title Friday.
