DAHA squirts dominate Iron River

IRON MOUNTAIN – Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association’s The Kaizen Way to Wellness 10U squirts dominated against Iron River Sunday at Mountain View Ice Arena, winning 13-3 and 16-3.

“The kids played very well together with fantastic teamwork bringing about the wins,” a team representative noted. “Goalies Aubrie Moore and Lily Tomlanovich both played strong between the pipes and each player either contributed goals or assists. Lots of fun on the ice culminating in a win.”

The 41 Lumber 12U pee wees dropped a pair of road contests to Calumet recently, falling 5-2 and 4-1. Jack Supanich, Will Murvich and Jacob Deuter netted goals in the games. Henry Pennala, Seth Greenleaf and Murvich tallied assists.

At Mountain View Ice Arena Sunday, the 41 Lumber team was swept against De Pere, 5-0 and 3-1.

“We competed really well, never gave up and I thought we won the last four periods even though it didn’t show on the scoreboard,” a team spokesperson noted.

Ted Pennala scored for 41 Lumber in the second game.

A full slate of hockey action is on tap this weekend. DAHA’s 8U teams, which play in house and are sponsored by First Bank and Mande Insurance and Investment Solutions, take to the ice at 8 a.m. Saturday. Stephens Real Estate 12U pee wee skaters host Marquette at 9 and noon. The Kaizen Way to Wellness 10U squirts will be in Marquette for a pair. On Sunday, the 41 Lumber pee wees host Calumet at 9 a.m. and noon.
